-Today we take a look at Judgment Day 2009 from the WWE. 

-Judgment Day 2009 was shown on PPV on May 17, 2009 from the All State Arena in Rosemont, Illinois. There were 14,822 in attendance and the show did 228,000 buys. 

-Intro. Jim Ross welcomes us to Judgment Day. He and Todd Grisham talk about what led to the first match. CM Punk vs. Umaga: Punk is the MITB winner. He comes out to a good pop. Umaga looks all business when he comes to the ring. Punk with the early barrage of offense. Umaga comes back with a tilt a whirl slam. Umaga with a back elbow. Umaga with a corner whip. He hits a second one. Umaga beats on Punk arm. A CM Punk chant goes out. Umaga with a neck vice. Punk gets to the ropes. Umaga keeps the assault up. He goes back to the nerve hold. Into an arm bar. The CM Punk chant goes out again. Umaga with a slam. He gets a two count. Umaga kicks Punk to the outside. Punk goes for a sunset flip, but Umaga holds on to the ropes and slams down on Punk. He slams down on Punk again. He goes for a third one, and Punk gets his boots up. Punk goes to slam Umaga, who falls on Punk for a two count. Umaga goes back to the nerve hold. Back and forth. Umaga with an uppercut to knock Punk down. He misses a flying headbutt when Punk moves. The Punk chant goes out again. Umaga rushes Punk, who pulls down the rope, and Umaga spills out to ringside. Punk hits a plancha to Umaga. Back in, PUnk with a series of kicks and a knee lift. Back and forth. Punk with a second rope bulldog for a two count. A flying clothesline gets a close two for Punk. Umaga with a Samoan Drop for a two count. Punk ducks the Samoan Spike and goes for the GTS. Umaga slips out and hits a crescent kick to Punk. He then hits the corner splash and the Samoan Spike to pin Punk. 

-Vickie Guerrero is shown. Chavo Jr. comes in and says John Cena is cleared to compete. The Big Show says Vickie is going to lose John Cena tonight. Edge comes in and says he needs to speak to his wife. 

-Josh Matthews and Matt Striker preview the next match. ECW World Championship Match. Christian vs. Jack Swagger: Swagger out first. Christian gets a great ovation when he comes out. The introductions are made and the belt is presented. The bell rings. Christian avoids some Swagger lunges. He rolls outside. Swagger follows. Christian avoids Swagger. He goes for the Kill Switch. Swagger avoids it. They lock up and trade moves. Swagger with a shoulder block. Swagger rushes Christian, who drops down and pulls the rope, so Swagger falls outside. Christian then hits Swagger with a suicide dive. Swagger throws Christian into a ring post. He throws Christian in and gets a two count. Swagger with a leg vice. Christian gets out and they trade blows. Swagger gets a two count. Christian gets his knees up on a Swagger Bomb attempt. Swagger runs Christian into a post and goes for the Oklahoma Stampede, but Christian clips out and gets a two count on a roll up. Christian with some quick kicks. He misses a diving headbutt. Back and forth. Christian goes up top, but gets caught and a suplex gets a two count for Swagger. Christian with a small package for a two count. A double clothesline, and both men are down. They trade moves and covers. Swagger gets a two count. A reverse DDT gets a two count for Christian. Swagger with Snake Eyes and gets a two count. Christian gets the pin on a roll up with a handful of tights. Swagger is livid. 

-Chavo asks Edge what he was talking to Vickie about. They start to bicker. 

-Shelton Benjamin with Charlie Hass vs. John Morrison: They stare at each other. The bell rings and Benjamin with the early offense to Morrison. All Benjamin so far. Back and forth. Benjamin gets hit and rolls out to regroup. Morrison hits a plancha to Benjamin with a cannonball. He throws Benjamin in, but gets caught going up top and knocked outside. Benjamin gets a two count. Benjamin beats Morrison in a corner. Benjamin with a rear chin lock. Benjamin with a running elbow for a two count. He runs Morrison's head into the mat. Morrison fights back to a base. Benjamin puts a sleeper on. Morrison slowly gets back to his feet. He does. Double shoulder block, and both men are down. A double count is going. Morrison twists on a Benjamin belly to back suplex attempt to get a two count. Benjamin with a back elbow. They trade moves and counters. Benjamin up with a backbreaker for a two count. Morrison with a running knee for a two count. Benjamin turns a springboard into a powerbomb into the the turnbuckle for a two count. Morrison with a drop toe hold to the corner. Hass gets up the apron, and Morrison knocks him off before hitting a spring heel kick to Benjamin. Morrison hits Starship Pain to get the pin on Benjamin. 

-The Miz comes to the ring. He calls John Morrison Marty Jannetty. He calls out John Cena again. He points out Alfonso Soriano from the Chicago Cubs. He says it's now 4-0 against John Cena. He gets interrupted by Santino Marella. He calls Miz a jackass. Miz attacks Marella. They go back and forth. Miz beats Marella down. Chavo also comes out and berates Marella for calling Vickie a pig. He frog splashes the prone Marella. 

-Josh Matthews interviews Chris Jericho. He says he has been attacked since being drafted to Smackdown. He calls out Rey Mysterio. He says there will be no 619 tonight; there will only be a new Intercontinental Champion. 

-Intercontinental Championship Match. Rey Mysterio vs. Chris Jericho: Mysterio out first, despite being the current champion. He gets a good ovation. Jericho out, and he has a look of disdain on his face. The bell rings, and Jericho bails out to avoid Mysterio. He gets in and attacks Mysterio. A Y2J chant goes out. He hits Mysterio with a back elbow. He throws Mysterio out, and he goes with it and is up to his feet. He takes Jericho out. He guillotine leg drops Jericho for a two count. Jericho comes back with a springboard dropkick to knock Mysterio from the apron to the floor. He then drops Mysterio from the barricade. Jericho with a splash for a two count. He gets a rear chin lock on. Jericho avoids a 619 with a forearm for a two count. Mysterio rolls out to regroup. Jericho with a backbreaker for a two count. Jericho with a catapult guillotine for another two count. He stomps Mysterio down. He puts Mysterio on the turnbuckle and tries to take Mysterio's mask off. Mysterio comes back with a flying crossbody for a two count. Mysterio with a barrage of offense. He hits a side kick for a two count. Back and forth. Jericho with a tilt a whirl backbreaker for a two count. Jericho beats Mysterio down in the corner. Mysterio comes back. Jericho avoids the 619. Mysterio and Jericho locked in and each avoiding the others' moves with all they have in them. Jericho counters a 619 into the Walls of Jericho. Mysterio fights it. He fights and turns and gets an inside cradle for a two count. Jericho with a slam for a two count. Mysterio with a drop toe hold into the corner. He hits the 619 and a springboard splash to get the pin. 

-Flashback to what led to the next match. WWE Championship Match. Randy Orton vs. Batista: Orton out first despite being champion. Must be a patter tonight. Batista gets a great ovation when he comes out, and he looks determined. The introductions are made and the belt is presented. The bell rings and Orton bails out almost immediately. He gets back in, and Batista with a side headlock. Orton pushes off and Batista comes back with a shoulder block. He then hits a clothesline and a suplex for a two count. Batista attacks Orton's back. He corner whips Orton. Orton with a cheap shot to knock Batista out. He then hits a dropkick to Batista on the apron. Orton follows Batista out. He belly to back suplexes Batista on the barricade. Back in, he gets a two count. Orton with a side headlock. Back and forth. Orton with an over the back backbreaker. He continues to beat and stomp on Batista. Orton goes back to the headlock. Batista comes back with a suplex to break the hold. Orton comes back with a standing dropkick. Batista with some shoulder blocks. Orton responds with a draping DDT for a two count. Batista counters a punt attempt with a spear. They trade blows. Batista with a corner clothesline for a two count. Orton rolls out and tells the referee to count him out. Batista stalks Orton. He gets him in and hits a clothesline for a two count. Orton guillotines Batista on the top rope. Batista hits a top rope shoulder block for a two count. Orton slides out to avoid a Batista Bomb. Orton grabs his title, and starts to leave, but Batista follows and throws Orton back in.  Orton tries to hit Batista with the title, but gets hit with a spinebuster instead. He gets a two count. Batista pushes off an RKO attempt, but hits the corner post on a charge when Orton moves. Orton goes into his viper routine. Batista pushes Orton away, and he runs into referee Mike Chioda. He then slaps Chioda to get disqualified. Legacy comes down and beats on Batista. Ric Flair comes down to save Batista. They clear the ring. 

-Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler talk about the next match and flashback to what led up to it. John Cena vs. The Big Show: TBS out first. Cena out to a mighty ovation. The bell rings. They slowly circle each other. Cena showing some pain before they lock up. Dueling chants go out. TBS beats Cena down. He tells Cena that his career ends tonight. Cena in tremendous pain. TBS steps on Cena. TBS scoop slams Cena. He goes to do it again, and Cena slips out, only to get side slammed by TBS for a two count. TBS headbutts Cena, and then throws him out of the ring. TBS follows Cena out. Cena ran chest first into the ring post. TBS throws Cena in. Cena goes for a bulldog, but TBS throws him off. He brutalizes Cena in a corner. TBS with corner whips. Cena tries some offense, but gets caught in a bear hug. Cena tries to get out. He gets out, only to get shoved into a corner by TBS. TBS with a corner charge, TBS with another corner whip. Cena avoids a corner charge. He knocks TBS down. U Can't See Me. 5 Knuckle Shuffle. TBS grabs Cena, who counters with a DDT. TBS powers out of an STF attempt. He knocks Cena down. TBS hits a Vader Bomb for a close two count. He goes for a second one, but Cena rolls out of the way. TBS kicks off another STF attempt. Cena with a guillotine leg drop. He again tries for the STF. TBS lifts Cena up and drops him face first to the mat. Cena hits the AA after avoiding a TBS knockout punch to get the pin. Cena celebrates with the crowd. 

-Flashback to what led to the Main Event. World Heavyweight Championship Match. Edge vs. Jeff Hardy: The trend of the champion coming out first continues with Edge. Hardy comes out to a fantastic reception. The introductions are made and the belt is presented. The bell rings, and they circle each other. They trade wrist locks. Edge with a side headlock. Back and forth. Hardy with an arm bar. He follows it up with an arm drag. Then back to the arm bar. Edge beats on Hardy in the corner. Back to trading moves. Hardy keeps working on the arm of Edge. Edge goes out and Hardy hits him with a plancha. Hardy throws Edge back in. Edge comes back and spears Hardy from the apron to the floor. Edge stomps on Hardy. He gets a two count. Another shot and a two count. Edge with a pull back arm submission. Hardy is fighting it. Hardy knocked back down for a two count. Hardy with a crossbody for a two count. He gets Edge down, but missed a crossbody when Edge ducks. Edge gets a two count. Hardy with a series of clotheslines and a leg drop for a two count. Back and forth. Hardy with a crossbody for a two count. Hardy goes for a dropkick, but Edge holds on. Hardy gets a Sharpshooter on. Edge tries to get to the bottom rope. He gets there, and Hardy breaks. Hardy hits a Twist of Fate for a two count. Hardy with a corner clothesline. Hardy with a Sunset flip for a two count. Hardy goes up top, but gets caught. Hardy with a sunset flip from the top rope for a close two count. Hardy with a shot that takes Edge outside. Hardy clears the announce desk. He slams Edge on the table. He goes and gets on the barricade to run towards Edge, and as he jumps off, Edge hits him with a Spear. Hardy gets in on the 9 count. Edge stomps on Hardy. Edge goes to Spear Hardy off the apron, only for Hardy to hit a guillotine leg drop on Edge. A Twist of Fate on the ropes and a leg drop. Edge gets his foot on the ropes on the count. A Whisper in the Wind gets another close count. It goes outside, and Hardy uses the ring steps to dropkick Edge into the crowd. Hardy throws Edge to ringside. Hardy gets attacked in the crowd by his brother Matt. Edge throws Hardy in and gets another two count. Edge hits an Edgecution from the top rope to get the pin on Hardy. They replay what happened and sign off from Chicago. 

 -Final Thoughts: This was a solid show, but nothing seems settled. They are just building to the next show.
