-Today we take a look at Survivor Series 1995 from the WWF.
-Survivor Series 1995 took place on November 19, 1995 from the USAir Arena in Landover, MD. There were 14,500 in attendance and the show did 135,000 buys. A break from tradition as this was the first Survivor Series to take place away from the Thanksgiving holiday.
-Mr. Perfect is introduced to the crowd to come out and do commentary. Intro highlighted by what led to the main event. Vince McMahon, Mr. Perfect, and Jim Ross welcome us to the Survivor Series.
-The Underdogs Marty Jannetty, Hakushi, Barry Horowitz, and Bob Holly vs. The Body Donnas Skip, Rad Radford, Tom Prichard, and the 1-2-3 Kid with Sunny and Ted DiBiase: Razor Ramon comes out to try to get to the Kid. They show the Kid double crossing Ramon. Jannetty and Prichard start. They lock up and drive to a corner. Jannetty gets the early advantage. The heels roll out to regroup. Radford tagged in. Holly tagged in. Holly keeps the advantage. Holly slams Radford down. Holly gets an arm bar on. He keeps the work up on the arm. Hakushi tagged in. Radford hits a spinebuster and Kid tagged in. He hits a frog splash for a two count. Skip tagged in. Hakushi reverses a fall away slam. Holly tagged in. He arm drags Skip. Prichard tagged in. He gets a gut wrench suplex on. He misses a moonsault. Holly hits a crossbody to pin Prichard. Skip comes in and gets a quick roll up to pin Holly. Hakushi attacks Skip. He goes for the splash, but Skip gets his knees up. Skip hits a top rope FrankenSteiner and then collapses. A Barry chant goes out. Kid tagged in. Hakushi unloads on Kid. Hakushi with a top rope shoulder block for a two count. Hakushi with a springboard to Kid, but Kid moves out of the way. Radford tagged in and Kid kicks Hakushi in the back of the head and Radford gets the pin. Horowitz in and Radford stomps him down. Kid tagged in and a double back elbow to Horowitz. Kid beats Horowitz down in the corner. Horowitz comes back. Back and forth. Radford tagged in and hits a gut wrench suplex for a two count. Horowitz comes back with a jaw breaker. Radford with a clothesline. Skip says not to pin Horowitz yet. Radford with a flip over mare. Radford with a Northern Lights Suplex. Radford does a push up. Horowitz rolls him up to get the pin. Horowitz attacks Skip. Kid tags in and attacks Horowitz. He pins Horowitz. Jannetty is the only member left. Skip misses a corner splash. They trade holds and counters. Jannetty gets a close two count. Jannetty goes up top, but Sunny shakes the ropes. Skip goes for a superplex, but Jannetty counters with a powerbomb from the top rope to get the pin. Kid attacks Jannetty immediately. He hits a top rope leg drop for a two count. They trade shots. Kid misses a cannonball from the top rope. They trade moves and counters. Sid comes out to the ring. Jannetty runs Kid into the mat. Jannetty hits the Rocker Dropper to cover, but the Kid gets his foot on the ropes. DiBiase gets up on the apron to distract the referee, and Sid guillotines Jannetty on the top rope. The Kid gets the pin to become the Sole Survivor. The crowd boos him and Sid. They show Razor Ramon tearing up the back. Todd Pettengill talks to the team teaming with Razor Ramon in the Wild Card Match.
-Bertha Faye, Aja Kong, Tomoko Watanabe, and Lioness Asuka vs. Alundra Blayze, Kyoko Inoue, Sakie Hasegawa, and Chaparita Asari: The action is fast and furious in this one. The SAT is introduced. It comes down to Blayze and Kong. Kong hits a superplex, but can't get the pin. They trade covers. Kong headbutts out of a superplex attempt and hits a back hand to get the pin and become the sole survivor. Last WWF PPV for Blayze as she would famously throw the WWF Women's Championship in a trashcan on WCW Nitro the next month. Todd Pettengill then interviews a Bill Clinton impersonator.
-Bam Bam Bigelow vs. Goldust: Bigelow's last WWF PPV. He would become disillusioned after his face turn and dealing with the clique. Goldust cuts a promo on Bigelow before the match. His entrance takes a long time. Bigelow aggressive to begin, but Goldust avoids him and goes outside. Goldust with a side headlock. They trade shots. Bigelow with a flurry of offense. Goldust pulls Bigelow to the outside. Goldust ran into a ring post. Back in, Bigelow clotheslined out again. Bigelow gets in and Goldust gets a front face lock on. Bigelow was thrown back out. This match has been strange. Bigelow hits a belly to back suplex. He misses a headbutt when Goldust moves. Goldust with a rear chin lock. Bigelow with a fall away slam to break the hold. Goldust with a clothesline and a falling knee to get a two count. Bigelow with another belly to back suplex and a series of clotheslines for a two count. Bigelow misses a corner charge and Goldust hits a bulldog to get the pin.
-Todd Pettengill interviews the "President", who now has Bob Backlund in the box with him. This is during his Mr. Backlund phase and goes on way too long.
-Flashback to show the history between the Undertaker and King Mabel. The Royals King Mabel, Isaac Yankem, Jerry Lawler, and Hunter Hearst Helmsley with Sir Mo vs. The Dark Side: The Undertaker with Paul Bearer, Fatu, Henry Godwin, and Savio Vega: The heel team out first, and then the rest of Undertaker's team comes out. Undertaker and Bearer out last, and it's the debut of the Undertaker with the Phantom of the Opera type mask. It takes a while to get started. Fatu and Helmsley start. Fatu with the early advantage. Helmsley bumping like crazy for Fatu. Godwin and Lawler tagged in. Yankem tagged in. Yankem attacks Godwin. Godwin with a hip toss and a scoop slam. Yankem pushes off. Helmsley tagged in. He hits an uppercut on Godwin. Helmsley chokes Godwin with his boot. He gets a two count. Godwin comes back with a press slam. Lawler tagged in. Vega tagged in. Vega with a hip toss. Back and forth. Vega unloads on Lawler. Fatu tagged in. He runs Lawler into a turnbuckle repeatedly. Yankem tagged in and unloaded on Fatu. Vega and Mabel tagged in. Mabel hits a big slam. Vega beat down in the heel's corner. Yankem tagged in. He chokes Vega on the second rope. Yankem hits a dropkick. Helmsley in and the heels are doing some quick tagging. Helmsley with a knee drop for a two count. Helmsley beats Vega down in a corner. Lawler tagged in. He hits a piledriver to get a two count. Yankem tagged in. He beats on Vega and Helmsley tagged in. Vega tries to fight back. Vega with a sidewalk slam. Perfect calls Helmsley Triple H on commentary. That would stick in a couple of years. Lawler tagged back in and hits another piledriver. Vega pops right up and tags in the Undertaker. I don't like that he no sold the piledriver from Lawler. Lawler tries to tag out, but no one wants to tag. Undertaker slams Lawler down. Undertaker hits the Tombstone to get the pin. Yankem in, and Undertaker hits a flying choke slam. Undertaker tombstones Yankem to get the pin. Undertaker is going off on the heels. Helmsley tries to get away, but gets threatened with slop from Godwin. Undertaker grabs Helmsley by the hair to lift him into the ring. He choke slams and pins Helmsley. Mabel comes in and slams Undertaker. He leg drops Undertaker again. Undertaker sits up and Mabel takes off. He gets counted out. Mo gets slammed, and the Dark Side team survives.
-Pre recorded comments by Bret Hart and Diesel. Hart says he asks himself if he is still the best and tells Diesel the truck stops here. Diesel says Hart is in the way. He says he doesn't get paid by the hour.
-Todd Pettengill talks to Jim Cornette about the Wild Card match. He says he's going to be in Bulldog's corner. The team starts to bicker.
-Survivor Series Wild Card match. Yokozuna, Owen Hart, Dean Douglas, and Razor Ramon with Mr. Fuji vs. The British Bulldog, Shawn Michaels, Ahmed Johnson, and Sid with Ted DiBiase and Jim Cornette: Razor's Team out first. He gets a tremendous ovation when he comes out. Bulldog out first for his team, and Cornette is with him. Sid out next with DiBiase. Johnson out next making his PPV debut. He looks intense and gets a good ovation. Michaels out to an overwhelming ovation. It takes a while to get started. Hart and Michaels start. Hart with a hip toss. Michaels thrown over, but skins the cat and headscissors Hart out. Michaels also comes out after Hart. Cornette tries to hit Michaels with the racket, but Michaels ducks, gets the racket, and hits Cornette. Back in, Hart hits a power slam. Douglas tagged in. He hits a delayed suplex on Michaels. Michaels comes back with a flying forearm. Michaels with a double ax handle for a two count. Back and forth. Douglas misses a Swagger Bomb. Michaels with a moonsault, but Hart breaks up the pin attempt. Johnson comes in and unloads on everyone. Yoko attacks Johnson and gets him down. Douglas attacks Johnson. He gets a rear chin lock on Johnson. Hart tagged in. Double clothesline as Douglas gets back in. He gets a two count. Johnson hits the Pearl River Plunge and Michaels tagged in. Johnson throws Michaels on Douglas for a two count. Michaels kicks Douglas to the outside. Ramon and Douglas start to argue, and Michaels rolls Douglas up to get the pin. Bulldog in against Hart. Bulldog wants a hand shake, but they attack each other instead. They trade moves. Hart gets a two count. Michaels and Ramon both tagged in. They are hesitant to lock up. Ramon was thrown out, but landed on his feet and got Michaels down. Michaels with a flying forearm. Ramon hits the Razor's Edge to Michaels, but Johnson makes the save. A double count is going. Both up, but they collide and fall again. Another double count is going. Sid tagged in. He attacks Ramon. He kicks Ramon down. Yoko attacks Sid from behind. Sid keeps up the attack on Ramon. Double clothesline, and both men are down. Sid goes up top, but gets caught and slammed off for a two count. Sid hits a choke slam. Sid tags in Michaels. Michaels goes to kick Ramon, who ducks, and Sid gets hit instead. Bulldog saves Sid once, but then Michaels gets the pin. That was weird. Bulldog attacks Ramon. Sid Powerbombs Michaels. The crowd boos. A double count is going. Ramon gets a two count. Hart tagged in. He attacks Michaels. He hits a backdrop. Yoko comes in and beats Michaels down in the corner. Michaels is bumping hard for Yoko. Yoko with a nerve hold. Hart tagged in. Double headbutt to Michaels. Hart misses a flying headbutt when Michaels moves. Johnson tagged in. He hits the Pearl River Plunget to pin Hart. Ramon enters and attacks Johnson. He hits a bulldog. It breaks down. Johnson hits a sidewalk slam. He gets distracted, and Ramon hits a Razor's Edge, but Bulldog had tagged in right before and attacked Ramon. He beats Ramon down. DiBiase, Sid and the Kid come down. Kid grabs Ramon's leg. This allows the Bulldog to power slam and pin Ramon. Yoko and Michaels in. Michaels attacks Yoko. Yoko knocks Michaels down. He hits a leg drop on Michaels. Yoko goes for the Banzai drop. Michaels moves out of the way. Johnson tagged in. He slams Yoko. Bulldog breaks up the pin. Johnson and Michaels yell at Bulldog and double clothesline him out of the ring. Michaels superkicks Yoko. Johnson then splashes Yoko to get the pin. Johnson, Michaels, and Bulldog are the Survivors. Todd Pettengill is then shown with the Clinton impersonator, who is flirting with Sunny.
-Flashback to what led up to the Main Event. WWF Championship Match. No DQ or count out. Diesel vs. Bret Hart: McMahon, Perfect, and JR talk about the main event. Hart out first to a good reaction. Diesel also gets a good reaction when he comes out. It takes a while to get started. The belt is presented, and the bell rings. Diesel takes one of the turnbuckles pads off, so Hart does the same. They circle each other. Hart dives for Diesels' leg. Diesel pounds Hart down. He beats on Hart in the corner. Hart tries to get out of the corner. Hart slides out of the ring, and Diesel follows. He drops Hart down on the barricade. Hart is trying to get away from Diesel, who keeps following Hart. Diesel throws Hart in the ring. They trade blows. Hart knocked back out of the ring. Diesel runs Hart into the ring steps. Diesel grabs a chair and hits Hart with it. He throws Hart back in. Diesel with a corner whip to Hart. Hart fights a Jackknife attempt. Hart bites Diesel to get out and then bites him again. Hart goes for a sleeper. Diesel fights it off, and Hart works on Diesel's legs. He sets the leg on the rope and comes down on it several times. Hart puts the figure four on. Diesel gets to the ropes. Hart finally lets the hold go. Hart goes back to working on the leg. Diesel gets out of a Sharpshooter attempt. Hart pushes back into an exposed turnbuckle. Hart pulls diesel down to the mat and runs his leg into the ring post several times. Hart takes a mic cord and ties Diesel up with it. Diesel fights Hart off. Hart with an elbow drop to Diesel. Hart grabs the chair from outside. Diesel blocks the shot. Hart hits Diesel on the back with the chair. Diesel is trying to get away, and Hart attacks Diesel relentlessly. Hart goes up top with the chair, but gets caught and crotched on the top rope by Diesel. Diesel slams Hart off the top rope, and Diesel tries to untie himself from the cord. He gets loose and chokes Hart in the corner with the cord. He gets a two count. Hart ran into the corner. Diesel hits a modifies LBG. Diesel hits Snake Eyes. Back and forth. Diesel ran into the corner. Hart attacks Diesel. Hart with a clothesline for a two count. Hart drives Diesel down for a two count. The 5 moves of doom from Hart. Diesel clotheslined to the outside. Hart goes for the plancha, but Diesel moves out of the way. Hart gets up on the apron, and Diesel runs into Hart, launching him through the SAT. This would help start a trend that continues to this day. The crowd is stunned. Diesel comes out and pounds on Hart. He throws Hart back in the ring. Diesel takes his time to get in the ring. Diesel goes for the Jackknife, but Hart slumps down. Diesel hesitates, and Hart gets a quick small package to get the pin and become the new WWF Champion. Diesel Jackknifes Hart and attacks officials who come down. He Jackknifes Hart again. Diesel finally gets out of the ring. They talk about the main event as officials check on Hart and sign off with a video package.
