-Today we look at CyberSlam '96 from ECW.
-CyberSlam '96 took place on February 17, 1996 from the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, PA. There were 1,300 in attendance.
-The Bad Crew Dog and Rose and Judge Dredd vs. Dino Sendoff, Don E. Allen, and the Dirt Bike Kid: All Bad Crew and Dredd. Bad Crew hit the Doomsday Device to Allen to get the pin, and then all 6 get caned by the Sandman. The crowd chants Sandman.
-El Puerto Ricano vs. Spiros Greco: They tie up and drive to a corner and break. Greco and EPR exchange hold and counters. Greco hits a knee lift and stomps EPR. He hits a flying clothesline for a two count. Greco with a rear chin lock. He follows it up with a chop. Another double chop. He throws EPR outside. All Greco at this point. He catapults EPR into the bottom rope. He then chokes him on the top rope. Greco with a pump handle suplex to get the pin.
-Bill Alfonso berates the crowd. Taz with Bill Alfonso vs. Joel Hartgood: Taz dominates Hartgood. He wins with the Tazmission. Other wrestlers come out to try and help Hartgood. Taz attacks them all. Mikey Whipwreck comes out, and he and Taz go at it. Taz puts Whipwreck in the Tazmission.
-Joey Styles welcomes us to CyberSlam '96. The lights go out, and when they come back on, Brian Pillman is in the ring. He puts down Eric Bischoff and WCW. He then puts down the ECW crowd. He says he's going to piss in the ring. Tod Gordon, Paul E, and Shane Douglas come out. They do a worked shoot that Pillman is somehow a Loose Cannon. They finally get him out. He attacks a "fan" and stabs him with a fork before running off. Douglas gets on the mic and tells security to throw Pillman out or he will beat Pillman's ass. This goes on way too long.
-Mr. Hughes vs. Bubba Ray Dudley: Hughes out first. Bubba out with the rest of the Dudley's. Bubba dances before the match. Big Dick hits Hughes with his crutch. Bubba hits a splash to get the pin.
-Mustapha Saed comes to the ring. Apparently, New Jack is under arrest in Atlanta. Mustapha agrees to take on both Headhunters. Mustapha Saed vs. The Headhunters with Damien Kane and Lady Alexander: Kane says he has a solution for Mustapha and offers Mustapha a job. Mustapha turns him down and attacks Kane. They fight to the outside, and the Headhunters attack Mustapha. They brutalize Mustapha. They hit a superplex/splash combo. They kick Mustapha out of the ring, and Kane berates him. Kane then asks if there is a team in ECW who can take on the Headhunters. The Bruise Brothers come out and attack the Headhunters. They brawl at ringside and then go out into the crowd. It ends up in the ring with a double pin, and referee Jim Molineaux says the Bruise Brothers win.
-Joey Styles is in the ring. He brings out Tommy Dreamer. Dreamer comes to the ring with Beulah. Dreamer comes out in a sling and says Raven did it. Raven, Kimona, Stevie Richards, and The Blue Meanie come to ringside. Raven goes on about punishments worldwide. Shane Douglas and the Bruise Brothers come out. Douglas gets Beulah out of the ring, and the Bruise Brothers attack Dreamer and post him.
-JT Smith vs. Axl Rotten: Smith out first, and he antagonizes the crowd. Rotten out to a great ovation. Smith jumps Rotten from behind at ringside. He hits Rotten with the ring hammer. Rotten throws Smith into the crowd. Rotten chokes Smith with a rope. He hits Smith with more weapons. Smith is battered around. He is barely standing. Smith comes back, and DDT's Rotten on the floor. Smith throws Rotten in. Leon Spinks is shown in the crowd. Rotten with a backdrop. Rotten with a clothesline. He gets a two count. Rotten with a corner whip and clothesline. Back and forth. Smith with a crossbody splash for a two count. Smith with a scoop slam. He gets a chair. He starts to go up top, but slips. Rotten makes fun of him, but it was a ruse, and Smith hits Rotten and gets the pin. He moonsaults Rotten with the chair. Hack Myers comes out to check on Rotten. Smith then attacks Myers. They fight, and Myers punches Smith out of the ring, and they fight at ringside.
Six-person Dog Collar match. ECW World Tag Team Champions The Eliminators Saturn and Kronus and Stevie Richards vs. The Pit Bulls and Francine: The Eliminators and Richards out first. Pit Bulls and Francine get a fantastic reaction when they come out. Francine will be chained to Richards. The introductions are made. Richards Superkicks Francine as soon as they are collared. Everyone starts brawling everywhere. Kronus and PB1 are fighting outside. Richards hangs PB2 over the ropes. The Eliminators hit a superplex/splash combo on PB1. Saturn chokes PB2. Richards joins the attack. All Eliminators and Richards so far. Richards kicks the Pit Bulls from behind. They fight to the outside and hit each other with fan supplied weapons. The Pit Bulls fight back, and the action is fast and furious. They fight out into the crowd and below the broadcast position. Saturn unhooks the collar and attacks PB2. He moonsaults onto PB2. PB1 suplexes Kronus through a table. They fight back towards the ring. They get in the ring. Richards breaks up a PB1 pin attempt. Kronus with a slam and a leg drop. Kronus thrown into Richards. Eliminators powerbomb the Pit Bulls and go after Francine. PB1 spears her to save her, and PB2 clotheslines the Eliminators. They Superbomb the Eliminators and go after Richards. They do a Super Neck Breaker on Richards. Francine pins Richards to win the match. The Eliminators do Total Elimination on the Pit Bulls. Francine slaps Saturn, who clotheslines her, and then they do Total Elimination to Francine.
-ECW World Television Championship Match. 2 Cold Scorpio vs. Sabu: Sabu goes after Scorpio right away. They trade moves and counters. Sabu grabs a chair and hits Scorpio. He hits Air Sabu on Scorpio. He hits Scorpio with a clothesline and a dropkick. They fight out into the crowd. Sabu hits Air Sabu on Scorpio on the front row. They get back in the ring and Sabu gets a two count. Sabu gets a slingshot knee drop. Scorpio with a powerbomb for a two count. Scorpio with a top rope leg drop, and he grabs a chair. He hits Sabu with a knee lift and bulldogs Sabu into the chair. They exchange shots. Scorpio ran face first into the chair. Sabu clotheslines Scorpio and both fall to ringside. Sabu with a cannonball off the apron onto Scorpio. Back in, Sabu hits a springboard kick for a two count. Scorpio hits a crescent kick. Scorpio runs and hits Sabu with a chair. Scorpio with shoulders to Sabu and a splash in the corner. Back and forth. Sabu with a victory roll for a two count. Scorpio with a kick to the head. Sabu then stomps Scorpio to get the camel clutch on. Scorpio lifts up to get out. Sabu with a modified chin lock. Scorpio gets out and low blows Sabu. They fight out to ringside. They get back in and Scorpio suplexes Sabu in for a two count. Scorpio with a modified surfboard. He gets a two count. They trade blows. Sabu with a slingshot leg drop for a two count. Scorpio drops a knee and hits a moonsault and Sabu gets his knees-up and gets a two count. Sabu with an Arabian face buster and some chair assisted leg drops for two counts.
Scorpio hits Sabu with the chair. Scorpio plants Sabu. Scorpio hits a splash. Sabu down and appears to be legit injured, but you can never tell with Sabu. Scorpio kicks Sabu. Scorpio with a scoop slam, but misses the splash when Sabu moves. Scorpio with a sunset flip for a two count. Scorpio goes up top, but gets caught and hits a victory roll for a two count. Scorpio misses a dropkick and Sabu backdrops Scorpio out and hits a suicide dive. Sabu with a clothesline for a two count. Sabu gets an arm bar on. Back and forth. Scorpio dumps Sabu outside, but Sabu holds on and they both spill out. Moonsault by Sabu to Scorpio over the guardrail. Sabu gets a table. He gets Scorpio on the table. He does Air Sabu and crashes through the table when Scorpio moves. Scorpio throws Sabu to ringside and back in the ring. He gets a two count, but Sabu gets his foot on the bottom rope. Sabu counters a powerbomb attempt into a victory roll for a two count. Sabu with a moonsault for a two count. He misses a second one when Scorpio moves. Scorpio with a modified sidewalk slam and hits the top rope leg drop for another two count. Sabu throws a chair at Scorpio and hits a top rope hurricanrana for a two count. Double clothesline, and both men are down. Scorpio with a Scorpio Splash. He goes to drop a chair on Sabu, but misses when Sabu moves. Sabu drop a leg and hits a slingshot leg drop. Both men are down and Sabu gets a two count. The bell rings, and it's a time limit draw. Scorpio retains.
-Shane Douglas vs. Cactus Jack: Brian Hildebrand is the referee. Douglas attacks Jack right away. He clotheslines Jack. He stomps Jack down. They brawl at ringside. Jack with running boots to Douglas. Douglas with a top rope double ax handle and a crutch that a fan had brought to the head of Jack. Douglas goes on a fan in the crowd. Douglas leg drags Jack. He posts Jack on the bottom rope. Douglas splashes onto Jack from the top rope to the crowd. He throws Jack and a chair into the ring. He snap mares Jack. He traps the knee on the chair and hits Jack with a splash. He works on Jack's knee. Jack with a back elbow and a boot. Jack hits Douglas with the chair. Jack stomps Douglas and slingshots him into the bottom rope. Jack with several elbows to Douglas's throat. He kicks Douglas in the head. Jack attacks Douglas. He throws a chair in the ring. He attacks Douglas in the corner with forearms. Douglas falls out on the timekeeper's table. Jack turns the table over on Douglas and drops an elbow through the table. Jack sets a chair up in the ring, and drops toe holds Douglas into it for a two count. Jack pummels Douglas with shots. He beats Douglas down. Hildebrand gets Jack away and passes something to Douglas. Douglas hits Jack with it. It is handcuffs. He handcuffs Jack and hits him several times with the chair. Douglas gets on the mic and tells Jack to give up. Jack calls for Vince McMahon and Mikey Whipwreck. Douglas keeps battering Jack. Douglas puts the figure four on. Whipwreck comes out and knocks Jack out and Douglas wins.
-ECW World Heavyweight Championship Match. Raven with Kimona Wanalaya, Stevie Richards, and The Blue Meanie vs. The Sandman with Missy Hyatt: Raven and company out first. It takes forever for Sandman to come out. He is shown on the balcony. They finally come down. They do their entrance, and it takes forever. Sandman spits beer at Richards. The introductions are made. Raven attacks Sandman during the intros. It goes outside, and they run each other into a barricade. Sandman throws Raven back in. He hits a delayed brainbuster and that was a nice move. Sandman with a somersault splash. He follows it up with an elbow drop. He throws Raven out and dives on Raven. He throws Raven in and sets up a chair. He sets Raven on the chair. Meanie comes up on the apron, distracting Sandman. This allows Raven to hit Sandman with the chair. He then DDTs Sandman and covers, but Hyatt had distracted referee John Finegan. Raven comes over to Hyatt. Sandman grabs Raven and DDTs him. Kimona comes in and jumps on Sandman. Hyatt comes in and grabs Kimona and we have a cat fight. They are both thrown out. Richards superkicks Sandman and Raven gets a two count. Back and forth. Raven hits Finegan accidentally. Sandman gets a two count. Finegan taken out again. Meanie, Richards, and the Bruise Brothers attack Sandman. Raven gets a two count. Raven with a modified brainbuster. Sandman fights off a superplex attempt on a chair, but Raven drives him into the chair and DDTs Sandman on the chair to get the pin. The crowd chants bullshit. Meanie goes to cane Sandman and mock Sandman. Sandman recovers. Meanie canes Sandman. Sandman battles back and canes Meanie. He calls for Missy. She comes out, and they do their routine as they sign off from Philly.
-Final Thoughts: A good show. ECW is slowly changing in 1996.
