-Today we look at No Mercy 2005 from the WWE.
-No Mercy 2005 was a Smackdown PPV that took place October 9, 2005 from the Toyota Center in Houston, TX. There were 7,000 in attendance and the show did 219,000 buys.
-Eddie Guerrero's last stand. Intro. It is eerie considering Eddie would die a month later. He talks about his past and his addictions, and there is a tombstone and graveyard theme running throughout.
-Michael Cole and Tazz welcome us to No Mercy. The SAT are introduced.
-6-person Tag team match. MNM Mercury, Nitro, and Melina vs. LOD Animal, Heidenreich, and Christy Hemme: MNM out first, and Melina does her entrance. Animal and Nitro start. Heidenreich tagged in. He dominates Nitro. Animal back in and keeps the assault up. Nitro runs Animal's injured shoulder into the corner post. Mercury tagged in and kept the attack up on the shoulder. Snapshot to Animal for a two count. Double teaming to Animal. Nitro wraps the injured arm around a ring rope. He gets another two count. MNM attacks Animal. Mercury with a wrist lock to Animal. Into an arm bar. Mercury with a neck breaker. He gets a two count. Mercury goes up top, but Animal catches him in a power slam for a two count, and all four men are now in the ring. Animal down. Melina tags in. She comes off the top turnbuckle, but Animal catches her, and Hemme tagged in. Back and forth. Hemme hits a hurricanrana that was sloppy and then she and Animal hit the Doomsday Device on Melina. She has to be told to turn Melina so that her shoulders are down, but she gets the pin. She and the LOD celebrate.
-Batista is interrupted by Eddie Guerrero in the back. He tells Batista good luck. Batista wishes Eddie good luck back.
-Simon Dean comes down and puts down the crowd. He has a tray of double cheeseburgers and says he will eat them all if he doesn't beat Bobby Lashley. Simon Dean vs. Bobby Lashley: Lashley throws Dean off. Lashley with a double underhook. Lashley beats Dean down. Dean gets away. He throws some cheeseburgers at the referee to distract him and then hits Lashley with the tray. It doesn't have any effect. He slams Dean down and pins him. He stuffs a hamburger into Dean's mouth.
-JBL talks about the rumor RAW may invade the PPV. He puts down RAW and his opponent Rey Misterio. Misterio shows up and they have a tense moment.
-Fatal Four Way for the United States Championship. Sharmel comes out. She introduces Booker T. Christian is out next. Orlando Jordan then comes out. Finally, Unites States Champion Chris Benoit comes out last. The bell rings and they pair off. Benoit knocked out and Booker double teamed by Jordan and Christian. Christian thrown out. Booker chops Jordan. Christian throws Booker into the ring steps and stops a Benoit crossface on Jordan. The action is fast and furious. Everyone breaking up pin attempts and submissions. Booker with a missile dropkick to Christian. Jordan and Christian clotheslined to the outside. Booker and Beniot tie up in the corner. All four going at it briefly. Each wrestler gets their time to shine. Booker with a close two count on Jordan. Booker with a spinebuster to Jordan. Booker with a side kick to Benoit and a Spineroonie. He hits an axe kick to Jordan and Christian breaks up the cover. Back and forth. Benoit counters an Unprettier attempt into some German Suplexes. Christian avoids a diving headbutt. Benoit gets the crossface on Christian. Jordan breaks it up. Benoit gets the Sharpshooter on Christian and Christian taps. Sharmel berates Booker and tells him that Benoit is not his friend and made him lose. Bobby Lashley is then shown making Simon Dean eat the cheeseburgers.
-They show Mr. Kennedy costing Hardcore Holly a match. Mr. Kennedy vs. Hardcore Holly: Kennedy does his introduction shtick. Holly attacks Kennedy right away. He chokes Kennedy in the corner with his boot. Holly hits a dropkick. He chops Kennedy in a corner. Kennedy begs off. Kennedy comes back and throws Holly out of the ring. He throws Holly back in. He works on Holly's shoulder. Kennedy hits a side suplex for a two count. Kennedy with an arm bar. Holly comes back. Back and forth. They chop each other. Kennedy with a flying arm lock and goes back to the arm bar. They trade blows. Both men down after a Holly backdrop. Holly with a full nelson slam for a two count. He gets a couple of two counts after a shot. Holly goes up top, but gets caught, and Kennedy hits the Green Bay Plunge to get the pin. They call the trainer out to look at Holly, and he tells them to stay away from him. Sylvan Grenier comes out and attacks Holly. He throws him in and continues the assault. He hits a brain buster on Holly. Dean is shown still eating burgers, and Sharmel berates Booker T in the back. They get interrupted by Mr. Kennedy.
-JBL with Jillian Hall vs. Rey Misterio: JBL and Hall out first. Misterio with a fantastic reception when he comes out. The bell rings and JBL attacks Misterio, who comes back. They trade moves. JBL with a side headlock takeover. Misterio struggles to get out. He does and kicks JBL to the outside. Misterio takes off and makes JBL chase him. JBL hits a swinging neck breaker. Misterio focuses on JBL's leg. He attacks the leg to keep JBL grounded. JBL comes back with a thumb to the eye. Back and forth. JBL avoids a 619 attempt. Misterio with a bulldog off the apron. JBL comes back and runs Misterio into the ring steps for a two count. JBL beats Misterio down in the corner. JBL hits a fall away slam. He hits a second one. Misterio rolls away and JBL follows. He hits a third fall away slam and gets a close two count. He then gets another one. JBL with a bear hug to Misterio. JBL places Misterio on the top rope, where Misterio comes back and hits a tornado DDT. Both men are down. Misterio attacks JBL. He fights out of a powerbomb attempt. He hits a hurricanrana and a bronco buster. Hall gets on the apron and JBL almost takes her out going after Misterio. Misterio hits a moonsault for a two count. JBL with a shoulder block. Misterio hits a 619, but misses the splash and JBL hits the Clothesline from Hell to get the pin.
-Handicapped Casket Match is next. Flashback to what led up to the match. The Undertaker vs. Randy and Bob Orton Jr: The Orton's come out first. A bunch of druids bring the casket to ringside. The Undertaker's music hits, and he comes out to a massive reception. The bell rings and the Orton's try to double team Undertaker. Undertaker takes both Ortons down. He beats Randy down in the corner. The he gets both down. Bob comes back with a low blow. They then double team Undertaker to get him down. They beat Undertaker down in the corner. Randy almost goes into the casket. Undertaker beating the Ortons in opposite corners. Bob is thrown into the casket, but gets out quickly. Undertaker ran into the ring steps and the announce table. He's ran into the ring post. The Ortons drag Undertaker into the casket. They battle over the lid, and Undertaker fights out. Undertaker with a wrist lock to Randy. Undertaker does Old School. Undertaker takes Randy down with a modified DDT. Undertaker goes to do Old School on Bob, but Randy stops him. More double teaming to Undertaker. Double superplex to Undertaker. They open the casket. Undertaker reverses a suplex attempt into a double DDT. He throws Bob into the casket. He hits Snake Eyes and a big boot to Randy. Bob out and grabs a fire extinguisher. Randy hits a neck breaker on Undertaker. Undertaker thrown outside. Undertaker grabs Randy and runs him into a ring post. He hits Bob with a big boot and grabs a chair and hits Randy with it to knock him into the casket. Undertaker with a triangle choke on Bob on the apron. Bob falls into the casket. Randy and Undertaker fight in the casket. Randy tossed out of the casket. Bob closed in the casket. Randy and Undertaker battle in the ring. Randy with a power slam. Randy drags Undertaker to the casket, and Undertaker low blows Randy. Back and forth. Randy hits a dropkick. Randy with corner mounted punches. Undertaker comes back and hits the Last Ride. He gets Orton up for a Tombstone and opens the casket, and Bob sprays Undertaker with the fire extinguisher. Randy hits the RKO on Undertaker. Bob rolls Undertaker to the casket. Undertaker grabs Bob by the throat. Randy hits Undertaker with the fire extinguisher and goes to close the lid. Undertaker grabs Randy, and they both fall into the casket as Bob closes the lid. There is confusion as to who has won the match. Undertaker and Randy fight up out of the casket, and Randy hits Undertaker with a chair to knock him down, and they close the lid on Undertaker to win the match. They lock Undertaker in and celebrate. They wheel the casket up the ramp. Bob gets an Ax, and Randy starts hitting the casket with it. They then pour gasoline on the casket and through the hole they made. They light the casket on fire. Officials finally come and put the fire out.
-WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match. Nunzio with Vito vs. Juventud Guerrera with the Mexicools: The bell rings and Guerrera with a flurry of offense for several two counts. Back and forth. Guerrera with a big boot. Guerrera with a backbreaker for a two count. Nunzio with a submission. Guerrera comes back with a modified victory roll and a side Russian leg sweep. They fight on the top rope and both slam down to the mat. They trade two counts. Guerrera with a spin kick. He rolls through a sunset flip and hits a dropkick. He gets a close two count. Nunzio misses a leg drop. Vito grabs Guerrera, who headscissors out. Guerrera with a crossbody, but Nunzio rolls through to get a two count. Guerrera hits a Juvi Driver to get the pin and become the new Cruiserweight Champion. Hugo Savinovich interviews Guerrera in Spanish. Simon Dean is shown in the back and says he's eaten 20 cheeseburgers. Bobby Lashley says it's only 19 and pulls out one more. Dean runs, and you hear him being sick.
-Flashback to what led to the main event. World Heavyweight Championship Match. Batista vs. Eddie Guerrero: Guerrero out first. He gets a respectable ovation. An Eddie chant goes out. Batista comes out to a massive ovation. The belt is presented, and the bell rings. The Eddie chant goes out again. They circle each other. Guerrero tries to take Batista down. He can't do it. They are feeling each other out. Test of strength. Guerrero goes down to his knees. He gets up on the second rope and kicks Batista, but gets slammed off. Guerrero rolls out to regroup. Batista with a side headlock. Guerrero tries to get out. He gets to the corner. Batista with a corner whip, and Guerrero moves on the charge. Batista goes back to the side headlock. Guerrero finally gets out, only to get scoop slammed several times. Batista gets a two count. Guerrero goes out and gets a chair, but doesn't use it. Batista grabs Guerrero by the throat. Guerrero hits a Hot Shot and a frog splash to get a two count. Guerrero kicks Batista's back. Guerrero gets a body scissors on. Guerrero adds a chin lock to the move. Batista gets to his feet and slams backwards into a turnbuckle to break the hold. Guerrero responds with a dropkick and a single crab. Batista gets to the ropes. Guerrero gets a tag rope, but doesn't use it. He hits another dropkick on Batista. He gets the body scissors and a chin lock on again. Batista powers out. Batista gives Guerrero a bear hug, but Guerrero double claps to get out. Guerrero goads Batista to rush him and drop toe holds Batista's injured knee. Guerrero gets a modified Texas Clover Leaf. Batista with a small package for a two count. Guerrero beats Batista down in the corner. Eddie avoids Batista by leapfrogging him and collides with referee Nick Patrick. He DDTs Batista. Guerrero grabs a chair again, but doesn't use it. Batista drives Guerrero into the turnbuckle. Batista with a backdrop and a spear. Guerrero goes up for a Batista Bomb, but rolls over Batista to try to get him down. Batista comes back with a spindebuster. He gets a close two count. Guerrero with a shot and the three Amigos. Batista rolls out of a frog splash attempt and hits another spinebuster to get the pin. He holds the championship belt high. He and Guerrero are face to face as an Eddie chant goes out. They shake hands and stare at each other before Eddie leaves. They sign off from Houston.
-Final Thoughts: A touching final Main Event for Guerrero. So long, Eddie, God Speed.
